I recently showed some of my pictures to my father, Stewart Goldman, who commented that my paintings might benefit from more attention to the space surrounding the figure or objects. He suggested before making a mark on the figure, that I should make a mark on the adjacent space, placing the color of the figure in a color-context. I tried doing that on this painting – though I might have gone a bit overboard.
